• Why can I not buy whisky for delivery outwith the UK mainland?

Current VAT regulations prevent us from selling abroad at the moment. We are constantly monitoring the rules in the hope that this will change in the future.

• Can I order from outside the UK mainland?

Yes, you can order from outside the UK mainland for delivery to an address within.

• How many Cask Strength Editions are there?

Currently there are 6. There were 4 at the original launch – The Glenlivet 16YO, Longmorn 17YO, Strathisla 15YO and Glen Grant 14YO. Glenburgie 15YO and Glenallachie 16YO were added and Glen Grant was discontinued as the brand was sold according to EU regulations as part of the Allied Distillers and Chivas Brothers merger. The latest addition is Scapa 14YO.

• I note that the labels on the Cask Strength Edition bottles state “bottled straight from the cask”. Does this mean that they are single cask bottling?

No, there may have been more than 1 cask used in the bottling

• I have a bottle of The Glenlivet 12 Year Old bought 8 years ago. Is it now a 20 year old whisky?

Unfortunately not. Whisky continues to age for however long it is in a cask but this process stops when it is bottled. However, your Glenlivet 12YO should still be as perfect as it was when it was bottled.

• Do you have a brochure with details of your distilleries and information on tours?

Yes. The information regarding tours is on each Visitor Centre page which can be accessed by using the Distilleries tab on the Home Page. For any information not supplied on the website pages please use the Contact tab on the Home Page

• What age is a’bunadh?

A’bunadh is a recreation of how whisky was sold directly from the distillery before the introduction of age statements. Casks were tested for quality and as each cask can vary in the period of maturation required to reach perfection different ages could be used.

• I live in a tropical climate (average temperature 32º Celsius) and I store whisky on a shelf in the kitchen. Will it go off?

Your whisky will not go off but may evaporate over time. Whisky should not be stored in direct sunlight and should not be stored in extreme temperatures of either hot or cold.
